PAST EVENTS

TENNESSEE STATE MID-YEAR MEETING:

The TN Knights of Columbus state Mid-Year meeting was held in Nashville on January 13th.  Grand Knight Doug Schott
represented Council 11424.  Preparations are underway for both the Tennessee State Convention in May and the
National Convention in August in Nashville.

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH:

Council Treasurer Jerry Corvin was named Council 11424 Knight of the Month for January in recognition of his hard
work coordinating the Council’s Christmas party.  Congrats Jerry!

SUPER BOWL PARTY:

Our Council hosted a parish Super Bowl party on February 4th in the St. Bridget Church family life center.  The food and
fellowship were great, although the game results are a matter of opinion.  Brother Knight Jerry Corvin did a terrific job
coordinating the event.  Special thanks to everyone who helped make the party a success.

NEW COUNCIL MEMBER:

3rd Degree Brother Knight Joe Fitzsimmons has joined our Council.  Please congratulate Joe and his wife Patti who
are recent immigrants to Tennessee from Wyoming.

VALENTINES DAY DINNER:

Our Council will honor our wives at a Valentine’s Day dinner to be held on Tuesday, February 13th at 6:30 at the
Heartland Grill restaurant in Dayton.  The Council will pay for our ladies meals while the guys fend for themselves.  Call
Jerry Waterbury at 365-6733 to RSVP no later than Feb 11.

GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT

18 brother knights (including our newest member, Joe Fitzsimmons) attended the Council 11424 January monthly
meeting on January 21st in the newly renovated meeting room at St. Bridget’s.

2007 looks to be an exciting year for the Knights of Columbus in Tennessee.  As this newsletter goes to press we are
anxiously awaiting the results of our effort to get funds for a new van for the Rhea of Sunshine agency in Dayton from the
MR Foundation of Tennessee.  Say a prayer or two that our request for funding will be successful.

In addition, for the first time since 1942, Tennessee will host the Knights of Columbus National Convention this
summer!  This very special event will take place at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville in August, and will be attended by
thousands of Knights, the clergy, and family members from around the world.  I encourage everyone in our Council to
consider volunteering (hey, this IS Tennessee!) to help host this event which is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.  By
the way, you can order a really cool convention shirt for only $35, even if you can’t make it to Nashville.

Finally, if you haven’t paid your 2007 dues yet, please get your $40 to Council Financial Secretary Frank Szot as soon as
possible to receive your new 2007 membership card.   You can mail your dues to his home address at 679 Clearwater
Drive, Spring City, TN  37381.

Vivat Jesus!

Very respectfully,

Doug Schott,
Grand Knight, Council 11424
St Bridget Church, Dayton, TN
