PAST EVENTS
BASEBALL OUTING:
Our Council sponsored a Family Night at the Ballpark on May 19th. Nine council members
and wives enjoyed a wonderful evening as the Chattanooga Look-Outs lost to the Mobile
BayBears. The fireworks display after the game was truly awesome. Thanks to Past
Grand Knights Dave Patterson and Jim Connors who organized the outing.
SPECIAL MAY MONTHLY MEETING/LUNCHEON:
Our May monthly business meeting was held in conjunction with the St. Bridget parish
CCW group on May 20th at the beautiful home of Joe and Mary Steinhauer on Watts Bar
Lake. The potluck lunch was wonderful and the fellowship was fantastic. Special thanks to
the “Holy Family” (Mary and Joseph…) who provided a terrific venue for the event.
“GOD CAMP” MEAL:
Our Council prepared lunch for 125 people at the special “God Camp” program in
Chattanooga on June 6th. Council members Dave Patterson, Bernie Switter, Don
Harrison, and Jerry Westbury and their wives Carolyn, Rose, Pat, and Elaine all pitched in
to procure the food and prepare it for this worthy summer time event.
UPCOMING EVENTS
RESCHEDULED PARISH BREAKFAST:
Our Council will host a fundraising breakfast for the parish after the 10 am Mass on June
10th. Brother Ken Hitchcock has offered to organize the event, but he will need a lot of
volunteers to make it a success. If you would like to help set up, cook, or clean-up
afterward please give Ken a call at 332-6277. Donations of foodstuffs to help keep our
costs down would be appreciated.
ELECTION OF 2007/2008 COUNCIL OFFICERS:
An election of Council officers for the upcoming fraternal year will be held at the June
meeting on June 17th. Be sure to attend this important meeting or you may get elected in
absentia!
FAMILY DAY AT THE LAKE:
Our Council will host a parish Family Day at the Lake potluck dinner on June 24th at the
home of Joe and Mary Steinhauer (no, this is not a typo… the May Council meeting at their
place was so successful that we are going back for another get together!). This will be a
picnic type event starting at 2pm and ending… when the beer runs out? There will be a
few games for the kids as well as an opportunity to swim in the lake. There may even be
some fireworks. Boats are welcome to tie up at their dock. Please bring a food or
beverage item to share.
Directions: From Dayton take Highway 27 north to Spring City. Turn right on New Lake
Road by the Shell station and go 1.5 miles until you see the 12 foot high dragon and other
wood sculptures. Turn left on Sycamore and follow it to the end where you turn right on
Marshall. The Steinhauer’s are at the second drive on the left. Follow the signs.
INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS:
The formal installation of the Council’s officers for the 2007/2008 fraternal year is
tentatively schedule for July 8th.
SUPREME CONVENTION IN NASHVILLE:
The city of Nashville will host the International Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention
this coming August at the Opryland Hotel. The state KofC organization needs to get a list
of people willing to help out as soon as possible. Please visit the Tennessee State Council
website (Google it!) for details about how you can participate.
GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT
13 Brother Knights attended the Council 11424 May monthly meeting on May 20th.
Thanks to Joe and Mary Steinhauer for hosting our Council and the CCW at their home for
a fun afternoon.
The Council election will be at the June meeting with installation of officers early in July. As
this fraternal year comes to a close I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to
make it a success. Our small Council has been an important part of the St.Bridget’s parish
for over twelve years, and it has been a pleasure to be part of a group of guys who are
willing to contribute to the betterment of our spiritual community.
