PAST EVENTS
FRATERNAL FINANCIAL PLANNING DINNER:
Our Council hosted our first ever Fraternal Benefits and financial planning seminar at St. Bridget’s on
June 7th. Tony Gervolino prepared a delicious spaghetti dinner for over 40 people who came to learn
about retirement income and savings planning, estate planning, long term health care, and other
insurance products. Newly designated Tennessee General Agent Dan Schachle led the seminar which
included a presentation by an attorney from Chattanooga on the need for up to date wills (both
kinds…). In addition, long time St. Bridget’s parishioner and tax advisor Norm Lane offered tips on
personal tax return preparation. Thanks to Tony and the presenters who made this a most successful
event.
SECOND DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION:
Our Council hosted a 2nd Degree and chili dinner at St. Bridget’s on June 11th for seven District 13
candidates including four from our own Council. Be sure to congratulate our Council’s newest 2nd
Degree brothers: Mauri Schmoll, Scott Maentz, Chris Hill, and Colin Patterson! Special thanks to all of
the Council members who attended to honor these brother knights.
FAMILY DAY ON THE LAKE PICNIC:
Past Grand Knight Jim Connors hosted our 3rd annual “Family Day on the Lake” event at his home on
Watts Bar Lake near Spring City on June 29th. A very nice crowd (over 30 people) enjoyed this fun
potluck picnic which included Jim’s soon to be legendary grilled hot dogs and the occasional adult
beverage. The water was warm and the fellowship wonderful. Thanks, Jim, for a fun day!
COUNCIL KNIGHT OF THE YEAR:
Council Treasurer Jerry Corvin was honored as our Council’s Knight of the Year for 2007/2008 after
Mass on July 29th. Jerry has been an active supporter of numerous Council activities this past year,
including attending District 13 planning meetings as well as the TN K of C state convention. His
conscientious attention to detail has kept our Council checkbook up to speed and our Grand Knight out
of jail! Congratulations Jerry, for this well-deserved honor!
