PAST EVENTS
2008/2009 “KICK-OFF” MEETING:
The new K of C fraternal year “Kick Off” regional planning meeting was held July 12th in Farragut.
Grand Knight Doug Schott and “future Grand Knight” Scott Maentz represented the Council.
CORPORATE COMMUNION AND INSTALLATION OF NEW OFFICERS:
Our new Council officers for 2008/2009 were formerly installed following a Corporate Communion Mass
at St. Bridget Church on July 13th. District 13 Deputy Bill Markiewicz officiated.
DISTRICT PLANNING MEETING:
A combined District 12/13 planning meeting was held on July 16th at the Council 6099 hall in
Chattanooga. Grand Knight Doug Schott represented the Council.
SEMI-ANNUAL AUDIT AND COUNCIL PROGRAMS PLANNING MEETING:
Our semi-annual audit and programs planning meeting was held on July 22nd. The Council’s books
were in order and we have a comprehensive, fun-filled schedule of events planned for the year.
CHURCH CLEAN-UP DAY:
The exterior of St. Bridget’s Church got a face-lift on July 26th thanks to our new Deputy Grand Knight
Bob Patterson and newly minted 2nd Degree Brother Knight Colin Patterson. They did a great job
sculpting the bushes and getting rid of the weeds that threatened to engulf the building. Thanks Bob
and Colin!
UPCOMING EVENTS
YOUTH DAY AT THE LAKE:
Council Advocate Joe Steinhauer is hosting a Youth Day at the Lake at his beautiful home on Watts Bar
Lake in Spring City on Saturday, August 9th. Contact Brother Joe for details.
BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER:
Our next parish breakfast fundraiser is scheduled for August 10th following 10am Mass. Please offer
your services to help prepare the meal and clean-up afterward. Food donations are always welcome.
Contact Ken Hitchcock to volunteer to help.
SECOND DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION:
A 2nd Degree will be held August 10th at 3pm at Council 610 in Chattanooga. We will depart the St.
Bridget Church parking lot at 1:30pm to accompany Brother Chip Garland to his 2nd Degree.
I hope several brother knights will join us as we show “UNITY” for Chip.
THIRD DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATIONS:
A 3rd Degree is scheduled for August 16th in Crossville, and at least two of our Council members will be
going through the Degree. Another 3rd Degree is scheduled for September 13th in Cleveland. More
details to follow.
FIRST DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION:
A 1st Degree is tentatively scheduled at 7pm on August 24th at St. Therese in Cleveland. We may
have three candidates from our Council attending. We will depart from Dayton at 5:45pm.
ANNUAL MR DRIVE:
Our annual MR Foundation “Tootsie Roll” Drive is scheduled for September 15th and 16th at the Wal-
Mart in Dayton. Volunteers will be needed to make this a success.
ST. BRIDGET CHRISTMAS PARTY:
The St. Bridget parish Christmas party co-sponsored by our Knights Council and the Council of Catholic
Women (CCW) is scheduled for December 13th at the parish hall. TELL YOUR WIVES!
GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT
17 Brother Knights attended the Council 11424 monthly meeting on July 20th.
We are certainly off and running as the new fraternal year gets underway! Please take note of all the
upcoming activities and try to participate when time permits > especially the various Degrees.
It is important to show support for our Brothers as they take these important steps on their journey to full
knighthood in the Order.
And… it is almost football time in Tennessee, so… Go Vols!
