PAST EVENTS

YOUTH DAY AT THE LAKE:

Council Advocate Joe Steinhauer and his lovely wife Mary hosted a Council Youth Day at the Lake at
their home on Watts Bar Lake on August 9th.  Over 40 attendees had a great time enjoying sunshine,
water, food, and fellowship.  Thanks to Mary and Joseph, our very own Holy Family!

BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER:

Our recent parish breakfast fundraiser on August 10th was a great success.  $267 was brought in to
support our various charitable efforts.  Special thanks to event coordinator Ken Hitchcock and all the
volunteers, especially Council Deputy Grand Knight Bob Patterson who saved the day with an
emergency egg procurement run.

FIRST DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION:

Brother Knight Aaron Mowery went through his 1st Degree on August 11th at the Council 610 Hall in
Chattanooga.  Special thanks to one of our Council’s newest Third Degree Brothers (see below), Chip
Garland, who accompanied Aaron to the Degree.

SECOND DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATIONS:

Brother Knight Chip Garland went through his 2nd Degree on August 10th at Council 610 in
Chattanooga, and Brother Knight Aaron Mowery went through his 2nd Degree on August 25th in
Cleveland.  Thanks to all the guys who attended these degrees to show UNITY with our Brothers.

THIRD DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION:

Brother Knights Scott Maentz and Chip Garland (he had a busy month!) went through their 3rd Degree
on August 16th in Crossville.  Council Inside Guard and MR Director Don Harrison helped our Dayton
contingent recover from a false start (we initially went to the church and not the council hall).  Thanks,
Don, for getting us to the Degree on time!

GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT

20 Brother Knights attended the Council 11424 monthly meeting on August 17th.

Wow!  You can see that our Council has been involved with a whole series of Degree activity.  It is
awesome to see so many brothers going through their Degrees, and also to see the support of so many
Council brothers who attend the degrees for our candidates.

It really is important to show support for our brothers as they take these important steps on their
journey to full knighthood in the Order.  I hope we have a great turn out for the 3rd Degree on
September 13th in Chattanooga > we may have 5 guys going through!

I want to share with you how impressed I was at the previous 3rd Degree in Crossville.  Our two
candidates, brothers Scott Maentz and Chip Garland, were treated to one of the best 3rd Degrees I
have ever been privileged to see (including my own).  This Degree exemplifying FRATERNITY was
extraordinary!  The Degree Team did a great job and the class of candidates made us all proud.

Vivat Jesus!

Very respectfully,

Doug Schott,
Grand Knight, Council 11424
St. Bridget Church, Dayton, TN
